Between mist-covered mountains and the distant sound of the ocean, two hearts said yes in one of the most magical places in Portugal: the Azores. This LGBTQIA+ elopement (a wedding without guests) was an intimate, authentic, and deeply free celebration — exactly as love should be.
From the very beginning, I knew this wedding would be different. The calm of the landscape, the gentle wind, and the way they looked at each other — everything breathed truth. They chose to marry without big protocols, only with what truly mattered: their connection and the natural scenery that seemed to embrace them.
My favorite moment happened during the buffet. After all the emotion, I watched them eating a simple sandwich, laughing and enjoying that instant as if the world had stopped. It was there, in that unpretentious gesture, that I understood the deep meaning of an elopement: to celebrate love in its purest form — no performances, just presence.
Photographing this day was more than documenting a wedding. It was witnessing the beauty of a queer love that chooses to exist with freedom and tenderness, in one of the most poetic places in the Atlantic.
