This wedding was nothing if not spectacular! How couldn’t it be, when it was held at Palácio de Monserrate in Sintra?!
It is rather difficult to find a more romantic city in Portugal than Sintra. Liz and Joe were spot-on when choosing where to have their intimate wedding.
This Palace is definitely a romantic gem in the heart of Sintra. It combines gothic influences, Indian and Moorish architecture. This amazing palace is a perfect example of the romantic movement. The gardens contain species from all over the world, thus making it one of the richest botanic gardens in Portugal. All of these influences make Monserrate a fairytale-like place. It’s hard to walk around not feeling like you were transported somewhere else. A place where beauty lies in every corner and the air feels magic!
All the ingredients were there to have a wedding to remember! I immediately knew that this intimate wedding in Palácio de Monserrate was going to be very emotional. Even before the ceremony, as Lisa was getting ready, tears were already coming down in most faces.
The ceremony was celebrated in the ruins of an ancient romantic chapel in the gardens. Emotions were running high. The whole scene of the ceremony was serene and absolutely romantic. Working in such places really makes me love my job!
Liz and Joe were beaming and looked so beautiful… Their vows were poetic and full of love!
Just to add another layer of romance, intimacy and affection, a friend of the couple played an acoustic guitar during the ceremony. So endearing!
As soon as we entered the dining area, I was wonderstruck! Me, and everyone else. The decoration was incredible! It really matched the beauty of the Palace.
When it was time for the speeches from the family and friends, emotional cries took hold of the room. It was a time for love and tenderness, as Liz’s father, a musician, sang “she was my first love”. The floodgates were open!
This wedding also had a performance. A dessert performance! Why have someone bring you a dessert, when you can have a chef throwing parts of it on the table? Yeap. Pretty awesome! The icing on the cake of a fantastic day!
Liz and Joe made a great decision as to where to wed. Their intimate wedding in Palácio de Monserrate was a dream come true!
